Being pretty much shut down for the summer, the backyard became my main photo playground. I had never tried shooting nature in my backyard seriously in the past, so birds, flowers and bees became the targets. I have posted over a 150 bird photos during that time, from pretty bad to better. I have them organized by species and was going through them and realized I had some of most every species that for some reason I hadn't posted. So why not make a post of ten of the species for variety.

ID Help Please. I've been calling this a House Finch but is it a Purple Finch? It was shot on "vivid" but I reduced the saturation on this one.

Very nice shots, John. I think you’re right I’m calling that handsome fellow a house finch.

I organize by species. I am going to try to put David Sibley out of business in about 150 years.

Don't let these guys fool you, John. It's officially a "little brown bird". I've given up on differentiating between House Finch and Purple Finch. I think you would need DNA samples to be sure! Nice job, on all of them, by the way.

Thank you very much, Marg. Confirmed by you and another hog, so House Finch it is.
