I preordered Luminar AI awhile back. I got the notice that I could download it. When I installed it the splash screen came and went. The register screen didn't start and I wasn't able to use it. All the menu items were greyed out. I went to Luminar's website and with the help of a chatbot got nowhere fast. I uninstalled 4 times using different schemes recommended on UHH and by Luminar. The website says we are here for you. Good luck with that. I send an email twice with the info they asked for. No reply since the 15th. So Saturday, I decided I would try to reinstall once more, then ask for my money back. I first tried the latest install and for reasons I can't explain the splash screen stayed on a few seconds longer and then the registration screen appeared. I can now use it. I would normally tell others with the same issue to be patient, but screw that you pay, you should get results. This is the poorest customer service and support I've ever encountered. I like the program after I was able to access it and I won't be asking for my money back. I won't be making any additional purchases though. I too old to be messing with non-functional products, when I could be doing something productive with the time, up to and including picking my nose.

Too bad...a bad experience indeed! Mine was easy and productive in 5 minutes. The new software is really fast and useful, not perfect of course, but fun, powerful and without the DAM, super quick.

Merry Christmas!

I had the same problem as you. But until now I have a message at the initial page saying "the internet connection failed , please check your internet connection". But my connection is OK. I will try again and again until it runs. But surely I will not buy the product never.

I installed my copy Saturday night. I feel strange, no issues, fast (very) to load, faster than Luminar 4+.Merges some actions into one; overall works well and inexpensive as compared to Topaz or On 1. Luminar 4+ is still my fast workflow App, but with practice AI could replace it. My home computer has the latest WIN 10 updates and runs a Ryzen 7 2700x with 16 gigs RAM. I have a NMVY as C, a 1 terabyte as E and a 4 terabyte as F. Boot up to completion of boot about 26 seconds.
My office computer will be the second install for me. It is an Intel i-5 with a 500 gig SSD and an 1 Terrabyte HDD.

I still run LR a fair amount and prefer it's Printing Module. In the past, I found it best to download the complete Skylum programs to a thumb drive. and then install from there. Luminar might offer that support when your connection is not fast enough. I downloaded from my office which has super high speed; my home internet is at 10 gigs (ugh). Sometimes my phone, as a hotspot, is faster, until it gets throttled. Be patient!

Perhaps it is time to update your computers, I think Ai is demanding compared to non-Ai programs. I had problems login thinking I needed a S# vs my email and Luminar password.

Ok once into the new world... I needed a guide and the tutorials were a bunch of fast talkers. Reminded me of DOS and the manuals written not for the learner, but for the boss who already knew DOS. I needed a Tutorial that held my hand and lead me down the menu slowly; I found a great tutorial on Luminar Ai, Nicole Young looks at each click within each click... slow and methodical examination of the menu:

I had no issues with the install. The learning curve is fast especially if you were a L 4 user. My issue is the erase tool. It crashes the system. And yes their customer service is the pits

I had a similar experience. When I got the notice I went to the site, logged in, went to My Software, downloaded, installed and it executed just fine.

Thanks for the heads-up with your description of your ordeal. Luminar likely has released its product as a beta version whereby customers become a free testing field.

Don't ever count on Luminar for help. The #1 reason I won't use them.

I certainly understand the frustration experienced by many with Skylum customer support. Although I haven't needed to contact their customer support, I've had similar experiences with other software companies regarding lack of support. I also have Capture One on my computer and have found their customer support not very satisfactory with it taking many days to get a response. I think software developers think email support is adequate, but I for one hate it, especially when the response time is so long.

I totally agree with you regarding the tutorials. Most are useless to me. Per your previous posts I tried the Nicole Young tutorials and they are great! My 80 year old brain can finally follow the lessons. Thanks dpullum, you have saved my sanity.

I had no trouble with installation but, I find the program so slow to open. I use it as an Adobe plug in. I have a fast desktop Mac. Anyone else finding it slow?

I don't have a problem with the time to open (a little slow).
But, I start LuminarAI and then edit a single image.

Just a quick comment, I downloaded Luminar ai,, at my office computer. No problem, installed quickly and opened fast!. worked on a few edits, all Goood. Then i used Erase, NO Problem. I think most problems are from the computer and background apps. I will put it through a work out tomorrow to prep pictures for my advertisements. Also, I DID NOT install it on LR or Photoshop yet, as a plug-in.

Believe me. It is precisely part of their business model to shortchange customer service. You can bet that a bean-counter has shown management the numbers with and without good customer service. In consultation, they determined the balance between sales revenue and customer service (which itself produces no revenue). Further, consider that Skylum faces competition and can match or beat it by keeping down its costs. Finally, for most companies, labor presents the highest expense. So, a successful company will closely watch its cost of labor.

On the other hand, good customer service can mean more sales from satisfied customers. A company must balance out this factor, too.
