How can Adorama print "as exactly seen on your monitor"?? I might have three monitors with different calibrations. Which one would get printed, do you think?

If you have three different monitors with three different calibrations, I would suggest that you do not have profiled and calibrated monitors. I would also suggest that seeing a print "exactly as seen on your monitor," is not possible. . . .Seeing the proper rendition of color...exactly as on the monitor is a physical impossibility.

Hope I'm not beating a dead horse, but CaptainC's comment is exactly what I meant.

And will someone please comment on accuracy of Adorama's printing?

adorama does a great job of printing....but they can only print what you send them......garbage in/garbage out. i have never been unsatisfied with their printing. i color correct all my stuff and always check the box to have them "no color correction". i had one 8x10 i wasn't satisfied with...but when i looked at my photo closely on screen....i seen it was my doing. i made the correction, resent the file and the prints were as i made them. they have been great for me the last 2 years. i highly recommend them.

Hi - I belonged to a gallery for a year before traveling around for another year. In that time I had two shows, both of which involved two other photographers in the gallery.

The approach is to invite as many acquaintances as possible and publicize it extensively.

At the first show I sold 5 out of 12 framed photographs. Here's the problem - unless your work is priced fairly high (example : more than $300 for a 20x24 metai- framed print, it is difficult to make money. Our gallery took 30% (others take up to 70%) , the cost of framing with archival mats, UV protective acrylic, etc. was about 30% of my sales price, so I was making about 30% on each print - not bad, but then there is the cost of framing all the other prints that did not sell, (then storing them!)

My conclusion was that it was certainly a loss in terms of money. It is thrilling to have someone buy one of your works - though you already have this"thrill" if you are a commercial photographer.

This is a good point. And gallery fees are negotiable contingent on the "fame" of the photographer.

However, I believe this show is sponsored by a local printer, so there should be no commission.

To the contrary, some consideration should be given to the photographer for helping to increase the draw of traffic to the shop.

It is a win win if the draw is large and the photographer is able to collect contacts for future event photographer assignments and even sell a few prints.

Fraserjen • Right. No gallery fees as there is no gallery. This show is being held in the photo studio of the printer. It will be cross promotional. Hopefully the many contacts that I have made by offering images I have shot at my event gigs, my fellow photographer's contacts and those of the printer will bring some added recognition to all of us. My costs will be in printing and mounting my images and possibly sharing the costs of promotion .

Mooseyes • I hope I didn't imply that I hadn't successfully sold my fine art photography as well as my event photography. If I did, I didn't mean to. I just haven't shown it before. As for printing, I don't think I want to get in to that. As to framing and matting? I was a professional picture framer for 12 1/2 years early in my career and still have some great contacts in the industry. The fact is, it is still a cost. I may, as I stated above simply mount and float them. Thank you all for your input. It has been a great help. If I do decide to do the show I will share some of the images with you all on this forum.
