Why should the manufacturer be subject to the normal liability issues when we as a country have said minimize safety tests for the sake of a quick "solution?"

Put yourself as head of the FDA. You can make two mistakes.
1) You can allow a drug to go to market that will potentially k**l or harm a bunch of people
2) You can prevent a drug from going to market that will potentially help or save a bunch of people.
Which mistake will you make.
Mistake #1 everyone will know.
Mistake #2 no one will know. (It's not an easy metric to measure)
This is why regulation can be so bad. How many people in history have died from preventing or delaying a drug to go to market.... The government not only made the right decision with the c***d v*****e. They probably should have scaled back regulation on many drugs.
Each person should have his or her ability to choose.....Free to choose.
The logic above does not take into consideration of all of the unforseen deaths that are almost impossible to measure for the implementation of restricted movements.
