As temps drop, the macro lens goes on the Olympus M1 Mkiii and I go out for awesome bubble fun. Used to shoot these on full-frame, but really enjoy the little more DOF allowed by the smaller sensor at the same apertures. When I first began shooting these, I did them on a D750, then a D850, while my friends shot them on D500's. I couldn't understand why at the same aperture, they had more DOF. Now I understand. A tiny exercise in DOF, sensor size and aperture. On the M43, I get twice the DOF (roughly) but the same amount of light. I'm beginning to see where the advantage lies in macro. I still shoot full frame and love my Z7, but this little Oly M1 Mkiii is really a nice piece of gear for hiking, wildlife and macro. The Oly has taught me how not to be a full frame snob.
My thinking is similar to yours. I have a FF Canon 5Dii, but the Olympus micro four thirds setup has distinct advantages for certain applications. As you point out, one of them is the smaller size - you can carry just about your entire set of gear in one more reasonably sized bag. The reach with the zoom lens is much better when you compare the size and weight of the Canon. And for my purposes, I see no difference in resolution or sharpness. I like the photo. Have not seen something like this before. JimR
Very cool! Having lived in California and now South Carolina, I've never seen anything like this
I should have included the ability to view it large, because it’s cooler..... larger. Can I fix that? Delete and re upload?
You should be able to add the larger image using the "edit" function on your post...
I don't get the edit button. I did an edit already - maybe limited to one edit?
