I think all except #3 have redeeming qualities. #3 does nothing for me. Just my humble $0.02 worth of opinion.

I like 2 3 5 7 8 the best!!!
I like B&W
Imaginative work, Barbara!
Excellent series and the in-camera B&W came out very well...1,2,6,7, and 8 for me, Barbara!!
Thank you folks. This is what I want to know.
NMGal, your experimentation got me thinking about shades of gray and a program to generated false color from the gray shades. Ouch a very complicated coding, a turn-off, late in the evening.. I gave up. I did however come across the RBG codes for shades of gray.
The title of your post is a good one alerting those adventuresome, like me, to open the site, view and think of possibilities.

Your camera handled these well. I like most of them. B&W makes it easy to look at the shapes and lines without the distraction of colors.

For me, with these subjects except for the dog, I need the color. It's like a frame of reference to lead me into the photo. Sometimes black and white just for the sake of black and white doesn't work. It would have to be a very strong composition to do so, I think.
#2 for me. The others are nice too but they don't have the same "punch".
Wouldn't RBG codes for shades of gray just be the same number for all 3 colors for each shade? Bigger numbers are lighter shades.
I just checked the link, and I was right. (For once, anyway)

Some folks love B&W/Monochromes. To me, it is like viewing a sketch of a subject BEFORE the artist finishes with the color paint. They are nice as far as they go. Maybe I'd feel different if I were color-blind.
Great B&W exercise, Barbara. I find with my own abstract captures that there is almost always some part of the frame which is more beautiful than the whole. It’s fun to find, enlarge and crop these into a new image. Thanks for sharing the set.
