It that time of the year, to get out what I call a winter camera. It is a small camera great to carry inside my coat. It may sound odd, it is a Zeiss Ikon Contessa. Film camera made in Germany back in the 1950s. Top film use is 200 speed film, It does have a setting for 500 speed, not wish to set a old camera at top film speed. Two big thing I like about the camera-NO BATTARIES and one does not have to have a PhD. to turn it on and use it.

I bet it feels neglected being stuck in a dark drawer the rest of the year. I have film cameras that I never use, and I know they feel sad.

Me, too. I have a Pentax MX that needs some refurb’ing, and I’d like to get it in for a tune up and start shooting some film again.

I'm not sure I could get film on a reel again. My old darkroom was fun, but I really like Lightroom a lot more!

This morning’s shot, with a pretty good winter camera that easily stays warm in a pocket. Unlike a folding film camera, you all can see the shot immediately wherever you are.

One of the winter-worthy qualities of this camera is that it fits through the slats in the window blind so you don’t hafta go out in two feet of snow to get the shot.

Thaz my car and I plan on digging it out in a few days.

Film is not dead! Like Bill I have a Contessa but usually resort to my Topcon 35L, just because it is so easy to use. I have a collection of old film cameras from my past, what I try to do is rotate their use with each roll of new film. But I do have my favorites, (the Leica IIIC and the Topcon 35L), which I keep on the ready...! Stay well and be safe! David C.

Ask your neighbors. Most of them could explain it from first hand experience, cuz the were NewYorkers before they moved to Florida ;-)

Wow! My first SLR was a Topcon Uni. I loved it until the shutter failed.

I use a Nikon whatever I have on hand digital camera - this was taken with a D800 and an 85mm PC-E in 2017. Today I might take it with a D810 (or the D800, whichever has the lens on it that I want to use).
