A timely thought..
With awareness of the role and significance of inspiration in the pursuit of photography this thought struck me as being particularly timely.:
“ Inspiration does not come like a bolt, nor is it kinetic, energetic striving, but it comes into us slowly and quietly and all the time, though we must regularly and every day give it a little chance to start flowing, prime it with a little solitude and idleness.”-

I am not sure about that....
Most of the time my 'inspiration' comes from lack of sleep or (argh) while falling asleep (then I wake up).
Sometimes a completely different topic can trigger an idea just out of the blue.

Mine usually comes after something has flown away...

Hi, Jacque ,
I have to wonder if you are conflating an epiphany with inspiration?
I do, however, concede that an epiphany can lead to inspiration to a greater effort -or to a refined effort - or inspiration to a totally new path of effort.
I do hope you are staying safe and well, my old friend!

Dave, are they not the same side of a coin?
More often than not it comes out of the blue, sometime entirely new. Then I start experiments, bang my head against a wall and discover it was not a good idea to use a wall in the first place... Now that is a epiphany
And, thanks, everything is well - If there were not so many walls around... Could it be why I like "
The Wall" from Pink Floyd?

Same for me. Sometimes it's more like a bag of bricks...

Cannabis usually does it for me.

Agreed! And that epiphany, I hope, elicited the inspiration to abjure “wall- head-banging” in the future! I see the relationship in this case as that of two sides of a certain coin... and one to be treasured!
And so, perhaps once again we have found occasion to agree to disagree?
Stay well!
Best, as always,
Dave
A lot of my inspiration comes from my, "Oh shit...now what do I do?" moments.
