Anyone comment on drone photography. More and more I realize this would be a game change with the right equipment.

I watch a lot of you tube & see there vids on it with the Hassy camera. I believe it has to bring the price up about 1k but haven't checked. Should bring higher quality video & photos.

I recently had occasion to view a set of real estate photos, taken for a "house for sale" ad. The ground level and interior shots were taken with an iPhone 12 Max, and were terrible. I couldn't believe these were taken by someone representing himself as a pro.

Then there were the drone shots. EXIF data revealed the name Hasselblad. Holy cow these were stunning. Immense, super detailed, lovely colors, rich and intense. I was amazed.

Drone photography is really great. I have been looking a lot a real estate in the NC mountains as I have more family wanting to move here, and in this area in particular many of the images of the outside of homes and the surrounding property are taken with Drones, no more using 10 or 15 foot stands to take those images, drones do a wonderful job.

I also like to shoot waterfalls, my kid has a drone and he uses it to get video of falls and their river runs that are incredible, that drone can get to places that I could never get too.

Drones are a great tool to get some stunning shots that you couldn't get any other way, as long as you don't try to sell those shots. You have to have a pilots license to be able to do that. There are hefty fines from the FAA if you get caught and the test to get a license is almost as difficult as getting an airplane license.

Why would you not try to sell photos taken with a drone? I don't understand.

Can think of lots of practical uses for drones, but not something I will add to my list of photo gear.

As much as I think one would be great, the places I would prefer to use one do not permit them.

You have to have an FAA pilots license before you can use a drone for commercial use, there are heavy fines if you get caught.

I've only been around a couple of drones...at a local park...and the noise they make is a consideration. I found it very obnoxious. A second thought is that the operator needs to be considerate of other users in the area and not 'buzz' by folks and scare the heck out of people.

I have seen some real estate drone video that was amazing...however, I am hoping that we do not see a significant increase in the number of drones flying....I am glad that they are not allowed in national parks at this time.

I currently have 3, used to do roof inspections for a few companies. The Problem right now is FAA certification; any time you want to make money using any unmanned aircraft you must be what is called 107 certified. A 107 certification is like a pilot's license but you can't actually fly. It is a costly acquisition and from what I have heard is a fairly difficult test to pass. And after a few recent stupid incidents the FAA is really starting to crack down. I have heard that any complaints are always investigated, even recreational flying. They are great fun and can take awesome aerial photos and videos. Check into it first.

You need a license, re-read his post...

Hefty fines for doing so.
Selling the images is commercial for profit use.

Not exactly a pilot's license. There's no flight training, just a multiple choice test covering airspace, weather, reading sectional charts, and regulations governing drone use.
