Some Beach Shots Before Hurricane Sally

I haven't been out much since Hurricane Sally and some other close calls, so I thought I would look through my last day out a week before Hurricane Sally destroyed my favorite location for photography.

Most of this portion of Gulf Islands National Seashore is still closed to the public while park services continues to repair the now depleted dunes and vegetation in the park. This fragile ecosystem will take years to get back on track and was lucky to capture some of the early morning beauty.

Enjoy!

Hurricane Sandy did a substantial amount of damage. Many places are still trying to come back since 2012. One place that has done nicely is the Marine Park Salt Marsh in Brooklyn. It is part of the Gateway Preserve and you can get some really nice photographs as many birds use this as a stop over as they head south for the winter.

It is worthy to spend a few days there.

In my years of many hurricanes in SW Louisiana, I find that Nature recovers quickly in most cases, It's humans and their additions that have the problems.

Yes, waking up before first light is worth it for the light and the lack of people roaming the beach

Agree 100%. People have no regard to dune preservation or wildlife off of the main parts of the beach. I won't start on my soap box about the condos, but let's just say as much as I like that shot of them at sunrise, they aren't my favorite feature of beach landscape...LOL.
