Lightroom Slideshow

A friend of mine installed Lightroom several years ago, and he rarely used it. The version he has is "Lightroom 2, Version 2.7. He would like to create a slideshow to show on TV. He has a program called ScreenBeam Mini 2, which uses Wi-Fi to transfer the pictures from the laptop to the TV. However, since he opens all his .jpgs and .tiffs into Photoshop, the final image he sees on TV is, of course, the same picture he sees on his laptop, i.e., his picture in Photoshop, with all the usual Photoshop options displayed. In other words, he can see the picture in Photoshop on TV, but unable to view only the picture in full screen. When he attempted to upload some pictures in Lightroom, they were shown in the larger screen, and as thumbnails at the bottom, but they are all out of focus. When I try to open one, I get the message, "The file named ???? is offline or missing." Using instructions, he tried "Help" but couldn't find anything that gives the steps for creating a slideshow. When I search "Slideshow" he frequently encounter the word, "Widgets," that has no mean for him. I am a user of current LR/PS, but have never used slideshow so unable to help him. Any UHH suggestions of a resource that he could use to walk him through this program would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have LR2 or PS. I have LR6. It sounds like he is using PS. If he has LR there should be a slideshow tab on the top right side of the screen where develop, library, etc tabs are. Make a folder & put all the photos that you want in the slideshow into the folder. On the bottom right there is a play tab. Hope this helps.

"The file named ???? is offline or missing." is the problem. This means that the files are not where the thumbnails think they are. If you right click on one of the thumbnails, and then click on file location on computer, you'll probably see that the folder either doesn't exist, or there are no pictures in the folder. So your friend needs to point LR to the correct folder. The problem could also be that the pictures are on an external drive that the computer isn't connected to or the drive letter has changed. Sometimes when an external drive is disconnected from the computer, then it's reconnected to the wrong USB port, it will have a different drive letter - like before it was drive letter "F" and after plugged into a different USB it becomes drive letter "G". Not LR can't find the files. Some your friend is going to need some computer skills to fix this. Also, if the files have been moved, your friend simply needs to use Windows Explorer and do a search of the drive and use the exact filename of one of the missing file. Then in LR click on one of the file thumbnails and tell it where to find the file. All of the files should correct themselves if just one is corrected.
