ok fine You can call Canon and they will walk you through it.
Thank you one and all ill up date later today
I did the same and have had no problems
The up grade is a Zip file so you have to un zip it to your (C)drive then copy to your formatted CF Card
I never did get it done, but I see on DPReview that others are having some lockup problems. I am waiting awhile to see how it shakes out.

Downloaded 2.0.0 and later 2.0.3 for both of the 7d's I use, nonetheless both work perfect. No Issues whatsoever. Do not forget that the 7d treats a udma7 cf card as if it was a udma6. Enjoy the software with peace of mind.

Loaded 2.0.0 - then found there was a 2.0.3 - so updated to that. You do not need to do them in order - you can go right to 2.0.3.
The later version 2.0.3 fixes a few glitched they found in 2.0.0.

Its like I always say about medications:
The clinical trials don't REALLY start until after FDA approval and the med is released to the public.
Likewise with software - - you can Beta test it till you're blue in the face - -
You don't REALLY know if it works until after you release it !!

I did the 2.0 upgrade & just did the 2.0.3 update and they went smooth as silk. Downloaded them from the Canon website then transferred to a CF card (root directory), followed Canon's instructions: insert the card, go to Menu, the last wrench icon on the right, scroll down to Firmware with the back control wheel, press the Set button & press again to upgrade to the newer version.
Did you have to un-Zip the down loaded file first?

When you download the file from Canon, it automatically unzips the file as an .fir extention. This is what you transfer to the CF card (on the root directory of the card through your computer, like an extra drive). You can drag & drop it onto the CF card.
