Question about Epson V550

I have an Epson V550 photo scanner which I have used to digitized thousands of slides amd prints without difficulty.

With the recent IOS updates ( i am using macOS Big Sur version 11.01), whenever I scan either slides or prints,

the result shows the entire screen, not just the scanned photo(s).

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I use a Canon Scanner. It has the facility to adjust crop-lines to the area wanted for copying / editing. Check the menus to see if the Epson has similar.

I have the Epson V700, and don't really know if the workings are similar with yours, but thought I'd mention it anyway. After I place the photos on the scanner, I run the preview; this indeed shows the entire screen.
On that I draw an outline around each photo, then run scan.

Perhaps you need to update your scanner driver?
Look at
https://epson.com/Support/Scanners/Perfection-Series/Epson-Perfection-V550-Photo/s/SPT_B11B210201?review-filter=macOS+11.x
Epson has a scanner driver and scan utility dated 10/6/2020
and a new ICA scanner driver for image capture dated 11/20/2020

Hope this helps.

You need to use Silverfast SE when you scan. Epson has set up a free download program for V550 and V600 users. Go to the V550 support page at: https://epson.com/Support/Scanners/Perfection-Series/Epson-Perfection-V550-Photo/s/SPT_B11B210201?review-filter=macOS+11.x and follow the link.

There is a program called Vuescreen which will work on any scanner and costs twenty pounds
