You Canon fanboys need to stay current with the news, lol.

Sony takes first place, and three of the first top five sales slots for fullframe mirrorless camera sales in Japan.

I picked up a Sony a6000 a few months ago and it is the nicest small camera I've ever used... It takes pictures almost as good as my Canon 7D and is about 1/2 the size and 1/3 the weight... if you have good sized pockets, it a great pocket camera.

I gotta say that my T3i Canon and it's 4 lens are the least used out of my 7 cameras ( cell phone included) My usage from top to bottom are 1 > My two G16's 2 > Cell phone 3 > M50 4 > SX50 5 > Nikon snap shot the the T3i

I think that the future is mirrorless. Personally, I prefer DSLRs. I have a Fuji XT2 and several Fuji lenses. In MHOP, I do not think that they compare to thirty year old Nikon lenses that I had been storing. I bought a used Nikon D750 full frame to use the lenses and, quite frankly, the pictures are far superior to the Fuji. The Nikon DSLR and lenses are heavy but give better results. If you are buying new equipment, then mirrorless may be the way to go. I have a small Leica Type 109 and the pictures are quite good. If you buy a mirrorless camera, other than a full frame camera, or a Crop sensor DSLR, you not only will face a crop factor of 1.5 or 1.6 as to the focal length, you also will lose f stops. In other words, if you buy a 50 mm lens for a crop frame camera, it will act like a 75mm lens but your true aperture also will be approximately f2.8 or less.

In short, mirrorless cameras are, for the most part, lighter, and the lenses are smaller, particularly on a camera with an APC sensor or micro 4/3. Right now, there are not a lot of lens choices for full frame mirrorless cameras.

I did a search and did not turn up anything specific even though I sure it has been beat to death and I just couldn't find it. Will the current crop of high end Mirrorless cameras make the SLR obsolete. It seems that the mirrorless does everything the SLR does and more. Sorry for what I am sure is repetition.

No.

Crop size is little or nothing to do with the mirrorless or DSLR choice.
I have mirrorless in 3 different crop sizes & DSLRs/SLRs in four, both having the same extremes.

Just to be accurate, and this is from a Canon user for 40 years (yes 40). Canon's mirrorless does not blow Sony and Nikon mirrorless out of the water. As a successful award-winning pro for over 44 years, i could have moved to Canon mirrorless but chose a different brand of mirrorless.

Associated Press could have gone from their Canon DSLRs to Canon mirrorless but chose to leave Canon and went exclusively to Sony Mirrorless for all their hundreds of staff photographers and videographers worldwide. Don't let your Canon loyalty and fan-boyism get the best of you. Sony's fullframe mirrorless still outsells Canon fullframe mirrorless for many reasons. More pros use fullframe Sony mirrorless than use Canon fullframe mirrorless. Check it out. Use what brand gear you like and be happy, but don't make unsupported blanket statements without facts to back it up. Cheers.

FYI, I use Sony A9, A7RIV and A7SIII fullframe mirrorless cameras and none of the Canon fullframe mirrorless cameras have what it takes to get this pro to switch back to Canon, sorry. https://www.facebook.com/GSWilliamsPhotography

Do you realize the politics that go into the AP and others choosing which cameras to use? I talked to a friend in Australia recently and he told me that his Sony A9 was a pretty good camera, just don't plan on changing lenses out in the field as the Sensor is exposed to a lot of debris in the air. At least with Canon there is curtain, so to speak, that protects the sensor. Plus, I'am not a Canon Purist by any means. My main gear is Nikon. So, I feel that I have made a supported statement here. BTW, I have shot many DIV. 1 Football and Basketball games along with a lot of Pro Sports as well.
