AD 771 - Chalemagne AKA Charles the Great, AKA Charles le Magne, AKA Charles I, AKA Charles King of the Franks, AKA Charles King of the Lombards, AKA Carolus Emperor of the Romans, AKA Father of Europe, AKA Pater Europae, AKA Saint Charles, AKA Eldest Son of Pepin the Short and Grandson of Charles Martel and Founder of the Carolingian Empire, becomes sole King of the Franks upon the death of his brother and co-ruler Carloman I.
AD 1947 - Joseph Louis Barrow AKA Joe Louis defeats Arnold Raymond Cream AKA Jersey Joe Walcott in a controversial fifteen round split decision, at YANKEE STADIUM in New York City, New York, to retain the RING HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD. Walcott had knocked down Louis twice in the early rounds, and most in attendance thought Walcott had dominated the fight. Louis was a preflight 10:1 favorite. In a 1948 rematch Louis knocked out Walcott in the eleventh round, scheduled for fifteen rounds, to retain the title.
AD 1974 - And now for something completely different, the final episode of 'MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS' aired on BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION TELEVISION.
While I didn't know Charles he Great and never met Joe Louis, I really enjoyed Monty Python and the Flying Circus!
