Has anyone read or heard what is causing the increase in covid cases? I really would like to know.
We are all washing our hands and wearing our masks. Is there more to the story?

No, but the increases seem to be mostly in the places with colder climates.
ie. Australia was up in June and is down now. The US went down in June.
The US increased when it got colder, having gone down after we warmed up in the Spring.
That coupled with more people getting together (less cautious).
I wonder if anyone is/has plotted instances vs. temperature.

Obviously we are not all washing our hands and wearing our masks, and especially not avoiding crowds or gatherings with more than one household. After the initial shutdown medical experts warned against reopening without proper precautions, and people have ignored that. We have yet to see the results of all the travel and gatherings for Thanksgiving.

I would only add that asymptomatic transmission is a real concern; and humans have a phenomenal capacity to delude themselves into believing that the exceptions they allow in safety protocols will not affect them.

Super spreaders, beer parties, rallies, large gatherings of people protesting their rights to kill, I mean go maskless.
In horse racing it is known as playing the odds. It's not rocket science.

The biggest increase is in the age group of 24 to 35 so I think we can conclude much of it is because of the reopening of bars and restaurants

Schools opening with sporting event. Pro sports televised so bars are fuller. And lastly people have had it with this Pandemic.
Even my two daughters doing critical medical care have had it, and neither want the vaccine....(but will be required 1st wave).
At 71 and cancer survivor I'll wait and see what the side effects are. CDC very concerned that many will not get 2nd dose because of the side effects after 1st dose.

Washing hands and wearing masks does not eliminate the risk... it reduces the risk. Being around people increases your risk. The more people you’re exposed to the greater the risk.

Plausable theory?
Ever notice when the weather turns colder that head colds, etc. increase?
The bugs come inside of you for warmth.
