Many folks are posting Bald Eagle shots on UHH. I have a few more here.
This youthful Eagle-fourth or fifth winter I think, the tail feathers are still not all white, landed just in front of me-about 30 yards out. As he flew around low, every water bird in Belfair took off! He then took off right at me! Flew inside the minimum focusing range of 10 feet for my 500pF, attached to my D500. Note the ducks beating a quick retreat when/where the eagle goes. The eagles here must be doing well as five or six eagles were in evidence. Salmon and ducks-Bald Eagle's favorite meals- are in abundance at Belfair. The other eagles were orbiting out over 500-600 yards from my position. Again the tide was in preventing my moving closer to the birds.
The first two shots are not the same one cropped differently. Could not resist posting the shadow shot. The ? shot is a stump the eagle headed for at first.

The weather was mostly clear and sunny, about 47 F little breeze from the South. 3:30 PM-one hour until dark. Lots of golden, creamy light and good activity from the birds. Saw Mallards, Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Buffalo Heads, Canada geese, crows, and shore birds- Killdeer and Sanderlings.

Fine set! Missed a pair of Goldens and a Bald Eagle yesterday on a carcass by the road, passed in both directions, different birds feeding. One of the few times I haven't had the camera along. Always feel lucky when I see eagles - photos or not.

Thanx for viewing. I feel good when I see eagles. They are interesting to watch and photograph! I took a bunch of shots of this guy. Others were out flying but too far away!

Thanx! Others are getting good eagle shots, too. This seems to be a banner season for eagles!

That 500mm lens is giving you some fine shots. On my monitor, the whites on eagle's head were a little blown out. Probably a simple fix in pp. Please stay well and keep on sharing.

Actually the whites were not blown on my equipment. Others make the same claim. I have profiled my monitors and checked again-no blown highlights. The bird is immature-the feathers do not have the detail yet.
Thanx for viewing.
