I am starting to play around with Astro Photography, Moon shots Constellations, Star Trails and the like. All comments and suggestions are welcome. And yes I know I should be farther away from ambient light pollution, but at 0' dark 30 I thought it best to shoot from the back deck instead of waking the wife searching for my car keys.

Have you ever tried this in AZ? I did an experiment when I lived there (film slr) I left the shutter in the on position pointed it straight up... if you ever doubted the earth was round, that pix would have proved it...

I like your star trails!

Thank you both for your comments. Many years ago when I was in my teens, I used my Agfa Karat Rangefinder and my AE-1P on top of Mt. Whitney Elev. 14,494Ft. and in the deserts of So. California to try the same thing. But the digital age makes it a whole lot easier.

Why use a graduated filter, and what was your ISO?

Keep up the good work!

My ISO was 800. I used the graduated filter in PP to do a little burning. When I shot off the back deck of the house, I was left with some over exposure in the lower portions of the frame due to light pollution.

Thanks for the comments Archy and Angler. With winter coming my shots should improve as thats when some of the best Astro events happen. Providing Mother Nature does her part in cooperating.
