AD 1775 - Sir James Jay, Brother of Jon Jay the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, invent invisible ink. He used it at the bottoms of normal, and unsealed, correspondence between himself and John as well as Benjamin Franklin revealing British military plans to which he was privy.
AD 1934 - The CHICAGO BEARS defeat the DETROIT LIONS by a score of 19-16 in the first national broadcast of a NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE game.
The game started the great tradition of Thanksgiving Day football, even though it was viewed by many as a gimmick at the time.
Graham McNamee called the play by play for the NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMPANY RADIO NETWORK.
Bill Hewitt scored the game winning fourth quarter touchdown on a two yard pass from quarterback Bronislau 'BRONKO' Nagurski. The venue was UNIVERSITY OF DETROIT STADIUM and was played before a capacity crowd of 25,000.
AD 1948 - The 'KUKLA, FRAN AND OLLIE' show debuted on Chicago's WNBQ, an affiliate of the NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMPANY TELEVISION NETWORK.

I think Soupy came a little bit later...and definitely projected a different brand of humor🤪
'BRONKO' Nagurski played football at the University of Minnesota 1927 - 1929.
Bronko was a fullback and linebacker.

Lunch with Soupy Sales started in 1953 in DETROIT!!! He was OURS!!!! I lived just north of there, and I was 4 when he came on. Then, I'd get home from 1/2 day kindergarten for lunch just in time for Soupy. What a crack up. Then after a few years he left for Hollywood, but for me, anyway, he was there at the same time as the others. What a great entertainer. I don't know that he quite translated over to the adult world.
Don't forget Howdy Doody. First saw that show in Paradise, CA around that time.

Thanks for the update. I didn’t realize he started that early. I remember him from the mid 60s when I think his focus was directed lire to an adolescent audience. Funny guy🤪
