Is there anyone who has not yet seen an Apple iPhone billboard?

https://www.landmarkdividend.com/1669-2/

It answers the question “How large can you blow up an iPhone image!
It all depends on viewing distance!

Google: “Apple iPhone billboards”

I’ve seen some of those. Pretty amazing. From a distance, though. There is also supposed to be some movie shot entirely with an iPhone. I can’t remember what it is, but there were some clips in an article I read, and it was pretty high quality video. The new iPhone 12 Pro Max is supposed to be a real game changer when it comes to video.

Yes in-deedy, WingPilot!
The point is that the concept of “Normal Viewing Distance - NVD - (one and 1/2 times the diagonal dimension of the image - regardless of the size of the image and what sort of camera it was made with) WORKS!

IT JUST WORKS!!

If a 6”x8” image looks excellent viewed at a distance of 15” (but if looked at really closely with an ocular loupe would be all pixelated), that same image file enlarged to 36” x 48” will look just as good viewed from a 7’ or 8’ distance (but if viewed from 15” would be all pixelated!)

Y’don’t believe it?
Next time you see a nice sharp image on a billboard along the Interstate, just pull over. Get out, climb the fence, trudge up to it and view that billboard from 10 feet away.
I can guaran-damn-tee three things:

1. The image will look terrible,

2. You will understand why the best photography judges view every image from NVD! and

3. You’ll get a ticket for illegal parking!
