Interesting. Working in the automotive industry for many years I learned one thing. There is nothing new. Climate control heated seats almost anything you can think of have their orgins in the past. Most were just ahead of their time. When everyone was running 14400 modems I thought how cool it would be to order all your groceries off line and have them delivered. Everyone thought I was crazy. Timing in life is EVERYTHING
Great link, very interesting to watch
We've come full circle since 1884 - amazing!
Very interesting - thanks for sharing!
Very interesting history. I guess this is what's in our future, if not present, but I will miss the demise of gasoline powered v-8s!

It would have taken all day for the store to get your order and a week to process your credit card, back in the good old days. And that would have been on a good day, when you got a connection at all. Then, of course, somebody would pick up the phone just as you are ready to hit the order button.
Very interesting. Thanks!

As the article shows, electric vehicles are not new. What is not mention are the life cycle costs of an electric vehicle, such as range of battery powered vehicles and cost to recharge the battery, cost of replacement batteries, fire hazards of electric systems, pollution (unfortunately electric motors produce ozone, the rate increases with the age of the motor - if don't believe me go into the electric motor room of a hotel, hospital or multi-story building and sniff the air).
And after 40+ years in the aircraft and mechanical engineering field, there is one thing I have found to be an absolute truth, if it was made by man it is not a question of if it will fail but a question of when it will fail (just look up MTBF - Mean Time Between Failures). [You can even find information about your own Camera and Gear MTBF.)
I do not wish to rain on the electric vehicles parade, I just want people to see more of the overall story behind the technology.
And yes I do believe in Climatic Change, and from centuries of scientific data, I know that it is cyclic. I recently read an article about archaeologists finding artefactual evidence of people living and hunting from up to 10,000+ years ago under the glaciers in the Alps at elevations up to 9000 feet above sea level. So the climate changed enough to cover the artifacts with many feet of ice and now the cycle is to thawing.
