Comcast is going to start charging more for "heavy users of home Internet" in the northeast. I'm sure they will think up an appropriate definition for "heavy."

I wonder if it has anything to do with the number of people working from home, school from home etc that is overloading their bandwidth, so jack up the price & 1) clear a few people off to ease the jam 2) make some more money 3) avoid having to upgrade the system under Covid restrictions

A note about Comcast & the other providers:
1. when we first got cable it was Comcast
2. Time Warner bought Comcast's So California operations
3. Then they merged or something and it became Spectrum
4. Now I notice that Spectrum is owned by Charter

What next?

Starlink could be the next big competition for the cable companies if they get the pricing and data allowance right.

We recently cut the cord. Got fed up with Frontier discontinuing channels we cared about due to "the channels not negotiating fair terms". Now we are going internet and have more content at a significantly lower price. Access is slightly more awkward but for the price I am really happy.

We have Spectrum here in NYC and I'm not happy with the internet service as it never really achieves the advertised speed. Spectrum has fiber optic in the street but has yet to upgrade the buildings. Meanwhile, Verizon has aggressively wired most buildings with fiber optic. I guess it's just a matter of time before we switch to Verizon as cable is a dying industry anyway.

We've had similar name changes. Same with my doctor. He went from private to a group, and that group joined another group. Now it's Nuvance Health Alliance Maverick Family Health. It's still a small-town practice, though, with nice office staff, nurses, and doctors.

As a Comcast customer you get 1.2 terabytes of data each month. If you go over that in any calendar month, there is an extra charge to a max of $100. You have to be a very heavy user to get over 1.2 tb. Comcast already has those charges in most areas and is now extending that policy to all of its areas.

I live in southern nh and just noticed that my bill increased by $25. No idea why but will be going to their office today. Can’t call as the line disconnects at a certain point when connecting to them. Wonder if that’s the reason. I have the Xfinity triple play.

Take a look at that T&Cs of your agreement. There’s probably an anniversary increase mentioned somewhere. A week or two before my anniversary, I call Comcast/Xfinity and negotiate my Triple Play monthly rate for the next year or two.

We have Spectrum here in So. Oregon and they treat us as second class citizens by not allowing us to the latest equipment. They say we are too small to get these improved devices.

They're trying to recoup $$ from the cable cutters.

We have AT&T just for internet here in Houston. I have Comcast at the studio as AT&T couldn't serve me. I'll be shutting down the studio in the coming months. At this same time we just started to get dropped more often by AT&T a couple of times per day. Then it was happening nearly every hour, so we complained. Their answer was we now had 18 items using the service. I said fine, but chances are we only 2-3 at any one time!
They check the line and found problems, then they 'worked' on it again so others were also having connection problems. Yesterday two service trucks were across the street. They also sent out a new router and wanted to up-charge us for that till we questioned that. So at the moment we're back to normal and with old prices, until they find another way of getting some cash. Most of these type companies are like squirrels--they naw until they find a way!
