Where can I get inexpensive snap on 40 & 42mm front lens caps?

EBAY, AMAZON ... depends on your definition of inexpensive.

B&H has off-brand lens caps. I got several Sensei caps for $4-$5. They work great.

B and H has a few 40mm snap on/slide on lens caps, but 42mm is going to be hard to find.
For many years I struggled with the snap-on caps. Then I discovered the Sensei screw-on caps at B&H. In a word: WONERFUL! Secure and easy to use.
I've had pretty good luck with Best Buy--sometimes closeouts as low as 2 or 3 dollars.

My lenses used to be all 77mm. I kept a spare lens cap in my bag after losing 2 caps on shoots.
Then came the new 24-70. 82mm. Have not gotten around to getting a spare yet.
Old school technical name for a lens cap was an "Eveready cap". I call them a "Neveready cap." Good for storage or transport only...

I get my lens caps through Ebay. I always buy generic but don't always get generic!
In 2017 I was using my Tamron 28-75 at Badwater Basin in Death Valley. A gust of wind blew the lens cap out of my hands across the boardwalk. I walked over to where the lens cap lay and just before I could pick it up another gust of wind blew it between the slats near the edge of the boardwalk. I didn't want to get on the actual ground and destroy the ecosystem (other people were doing that!). So I waited until I got home and ordered a generic lens cap for my Tammy. I now have a Canon lens cap on my Tamron lens attached to a Nikon camera. BTW, a Tamron lens caps would have cost $10 on Ebay; I appreciate my Canon cap that cost $1, shipping included.
