My wife and I are retracing the American Revolutionary War Trails in NC during the covid quarantine. Some of our recent travels have taken us to these locations.
Trent River in Pollocksville, Jones County, on US-17. The bridge was the site of a skirmish between British and Patriot forces in 1781

First Provincial Congress was held on this site in New Bern. Just a few blocks away from the British Royal Governor's Palace, Tryon Palace--just to needle him and let him know that this colony's desire for freedom wasn't a temporary rumble.

A Patriot cannon at the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge in Pender County. How would you like staring down the barrel of this as you came across the bridge or out of the swamp that morning? It gives me the shivers, even now.

The river is fantastic.
Thanks, Gene. You oughta hunt down some of SC's sites. There are a bunch of Revolutionary War "skirmishes" and a battle or two there.

I will have several more to come at various intervals over the next few months, so stay tuned...Since we are quarantined, we take these day trips. During the winter, when weather is not permitting, I'll probably organize another folder on my website: tomrains.smugmug.com
