Washington fits the range. In this photo the usual whitish patch below the eye and behind the bill is not apparent. However, the reddish-brown color is at least suggested --In any case, Harlequin Female would be my guess.

Thanx for the response. Tough to see the details- I think they are Harlequins. I have some shots from last year of Harlequins and Goldeneyes- females look similar.

I found this in the Merlin app. They appear to be immature male buffleheads.
