I've been a Topaz user forever, have all the stuff. Now it seems they're trying to be Adobe, but without being reasonable. Just went to update my Gigapixel AI program and they want a hundred bux (well, $99.99, but like most marketers nowadays, they think we're stupid)! I think that's the straw for me...lol...

I have no intention of upgrading either. At One time I had all of the Topaz plugins, But Now I really only use Denoise AI, but Have not upgraded it yet. I will either wait till a sale or till the time when My Mac OS no longer supports it..Or if the one fromon1 gets a lot better

I'm in the same camp. I have the topaz suite and I haven't seen much improvement in feature performance, more just speed improvements and menu layouts. I don't plan to upgrade until I see some serious improvements in denoising, sharpening, masking, etc.. I also see Adobe incorporating similar capabilities into PS. If Adobe gets close or catches up, I may never upgrade.

I upgraded a few months back, but I remember a discounted upgrade price allowed a year of free upgrades for a year over the complete line of programs I own. I don't remember the specifics, but since I use the Topaz products to save me time with client files to either restore their photos or PP my shoots for them, it was totally reasonable. I do understand the reticence to upgrade because there are programs I have that I rarely use so older versions are totally adequate.

I only started using Topaz products toward the end of their “free upgrade” policy, and I agree that it was a very attractive proposition as long as it lasted. Yes, I wish it would have continued, but it didn’t.

I currently use three Topaz products, and i just went ahead with purchasing the one year upgrade program. I have no conceptual problem with this commercial arrangement, and will live with the cost. Of course I can always choose to not renew if the results are not satisfactory.

Topaz has quite the interesting business Model... a la carte. Each module of a larger package sold, one piece at a time, and for high prices. They're blazing new trails and demanding lots of money for their remarkable products while they can. I watch in awe.

Just my humble opinion, and more information.
Free, for a year and frequent updates for a year included. In my opinion, their "AI" products are a huge improvement over their previous offerings.
Yesterday I received their Black Friday flyer for a great saving.

Makes Adobe LR/PS look like a steal. We will see if Topaz survives. You can carp all day but thre functionality is great and getting better. You get what you pay for. A lot of cost for programmers to make this function happen. Too many think they should be getting this for pennies.

I think the Topaz upgrades I've seen are incremental, so I'll be sticking with the versions I have. So far they're doing an excellent job.

Once you purchase, the upgrades are only free for 1 year. You just missed a sale for $79.99. Some of these you tubers that promote the Topaz software offer 15-25% off in a link below the video if your interested. Afew months back I purchased Denoise & sharpen & there must of been 2-3 updates for each 1 already. PIA!!!

You do not have to upgrade to continue using as long as you want. The $99 will cover all the Topaz programs you might have. If you still have free upgrade time on a product, they will give you credit towards the upgrade price. Adobe charges more than that for a year of upgrades and when you stop paying you can no longer use the products.

I have Topaz AI Sharpening and I think I'll cancel it. It is way too slow. The last photo I submitted to them, it took over two hours before it finished. This is ridiculous.

Yes, the upgrades are pricy considering the number of software errors and installation problems that get passed through to user to report/resolve.

I've realized a long time ago that these plugins, etc. are simply pushing a button to make what you can make happen without their use.

You don't have to cancel. Once you buy it you can continue using it without any additional cost. As for how slow it is, that is mainly a function of your computer. They tell you what's needed and recommended on their website.
