I am looking for C&C on the lighting of the subject, i.e is the overall pic to dark, to much shadow on the right side and so on.

My grandson

I don't think there is anything you could do to make this a bad photo, aside from not taking it in the first place. This shows pure innocence and purity.

A tad lighter if at all

Great photo.

Thanks for the comment. I was trying out different lighting and was only using one light camera left with a flash on camera right bounced off the wall at 1/4 power.

I am not a portrait photographer, but I like it just like it is. I do tend to like my photos a bit darker than others might.

You need to frame it just like it is!

Inexpensive - white reflecting material on child's side to open that side up?

I am quoting a photographer named Tedric Garrison here.

"The reason the masters went to such great efforts to include shadows and highlights in their photos is that it took their work to the next level. If all cameras shoot at 18% gray; which is a middle of the road type exposure, it is fair to assume that 90% of the people in the world today are getting middle of the road type photos (as far as exposure is concerned.)"

I think you have done a wonderful job here. Well done .... And yes, as stated, frame it!!

Beautifully exposed and composed. If you really want me to be picky, I would say darken/clone out the stripy thingy and the semicircle design on his shirt and perhaps even his left arm just below the sleeve. Well done!
