I did a cross country driving trip in 1996. While driving through Wyoming near the Grand Tetons I found this view a few miles east of the Tetons, I don't remember exactly where. I posted it on flicker a few years ago and identified it as the Tetons but I was corrected by someone saying it was not. I realized that they were correct but still have no idea of what range these might have been . Does anyone recognize this view and where it might be. I am posting both the before and after versions of this shot to show what changes I made.
Perhaps in the Gros Ventre mountains?

We visit the Tetons at least once a year (this year being the exception due to Covid) and always enjoy our trips. I'm not sure where you took this but will be watching your post over the next few days to see if someone else can identify the location. Your mountain range is beautiful--as are many in the overall Rocky Mountains. This argues for GPS notation in the pic info. Nice shot.
I don't know. Maybe in the vicinity of Kelly or the Teton Science school, along Gros
Ventre road?
I looked up some photos of that range on the net and even though the Gros Ventra does look like it might be in that area the mountains look different from my view so I'm doubting that's it. I'm not familiar with the different ranges in Wyoming so I don't know where else to look for comparison photos.

I looked at my original files from that trip again and I notices that just a few frames further on from that first photo was another view from that same road that did have the Tetons in plain view. This may help narrow down the road I was on. Here is the other photo. Does anyone recognize it.
Looking at a map of the area it seems like I was probably on route 287 heading north. Its a scenic biway highway
Wherever, it's beautiful.
Very good shots, Dan, wherever you were.
As soon as I saw your photos, it reminded me of a spot in the Wind River Range, just southeast of the Tetons... maybe?
Dan- I'm pretty sure that the mountain you are looking at is the Ramshorn Peak (10, 368 ft). I suspect you had driven up through Dubois (on Ramshorn Street, the main street) and you drove over Togwotee Pass to Jackson. In your second photo you can see the road going down the pass. The views of the Tetons are amazing from the rest area as you start down the west side. I would further hazard a guess that this particular shot was taken from the Dunoir Valley because it looks like that side of the Ramshorn. A few miles west of Dubois you can turn right and drive up a gravel road into the Dunoir. I was right there in the summer of 2019 and I have been to Dubois many times. By the way, Dunoir is pronounced "Do Nore," not the French way. Togwotee is pronounced "Toe-guh-dee" and you have run it all together into one fast slur, the Wyoming way. Beautiful area!
After looking at my map some more, I think you are right. That is the general area I think I was passing through on hiway 26 through Dubois. Being 12 years ago its hard to be sure from memory. by the way when I looked up Ramshorn peak on maps it put it in Montana but I know it was Wyoming in the area we are discussing. Maybe I'll be able to go out there again sometime before its too late. Thanks for your help.
I looked a bit further on the net about Ramshorn peak and did find photos saying it was in Wyoming in the area we are discussing and the photos I saw did look about the same, so that's probably it.
