As we continued our drive back to the Aghadoe Heights Hotel, our base in Killarney, we encountered more beautiful scenery as we left the Killarney National Park. The first 4 images were taken from the Ladies View overlook at 1/250 sec f10 and the last 6 from my prime seat in the front row of the tour bus. I used a Nikon D7500 with a Nikkor 18-300 lens at 1/640 sec, f7.1 auto ISO for the shots from the bus. I debated whether or not to clone out the raindrops on the windshield and chose to leave them in for more character and credibility. For a narrative please see my previous post :

I hope you enjoy this set - especially the downloads.

More beautiful tour, Mark. I think that the clouds set off the colors better than pure sunshine.
Spectacular!! I enjoyed that area years ago, and your photographs bring it back to life in my memory. Beautiful work!
The Old Man
Really nice set, Mark. I especially like the next to last one.

Thanks so much Mike. I agree that the clouds make the color more vibrant. The next few sets will be from mostly sunny days so we can compare.

Thanks very much Ken. Getting the shot as we approached allowed me to include some of the road as a leading line. It's my wife's favorite as well. I wish I knew more about this old abandoned church.

Another great set Mark!
I recall back in the 60's -70's many of those views - especially from Killarney up to Ladies View were covered with towering cascades of rhododendron bushes. They were magnificent to behold- especially during flowering in May, but they were an invasive species that were choking out all other habitats including the ancient native oak forests. The government set about eradicating the rhododendrons in the 80's using mostly volunteer labor. I think the military were brought in also. I have read that the rhododendrons are starting to come back, but the last time I came through there a couple of years ago the landscape was vastly different to what I recalled from my youth.
Thanks again.
PS
The Church is Derrycunihy Church. It is listed with An Taisce - The National Heritage Trust. I believe they are looking for somebody to take it over and renovate it into a tourist related use. Could be a great opportunity for a retired OB/GYN !
Freestanding double-height Gothic Revival style Roman Catholic church, built c. 1890, with five-bay nave, single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch to north elevation, two-bay single-storey sacristy projection to south elevation, and single-bay full-height polygonal apse to east gable end having copper-clad spirelet to gable. Now disused and partly derelict. Pitched slate roof with iron ridge plates having scalloped edges and incised patterns, stone Celtic cross finials, copper spire with louvered panels, open eaves, cast-iron profiled gutters and downpipes, vestry re-roofed artificial slate. Rubble stone walls with limestone ashlar quoins. Triple, paired, and single lancets with limestone ashlar surrounds. One lancet west of porch retains leaded square and diamond quarry panes. West gable quatrefoil has stained glass. Vestry retains leaded glazing to two windows with central iron bar. Gateway, built c. 1890, to north comprising pair of cut-stone piers with wrought-iron gates.

Excellent set Mark, my favorite of this part of your trip. I love the roads (I love to drive on twisty roads) and really likes the last one.
