I bought a lowepro protactic bp 450 thinking it would hold a d500 with 18-300, a d850 with 24-70, a 70-200, a sb800, a mac ProBook, ipad air in a case, filters, chargers cleaning equipment.
I was disappointed. The case is too short too hold the flash and the f2.8 lenses in a vertical orientation. There is no way I could add a Nikon 14-28 or 200-500 in the mix
The ProBook will not fit in the plastic slot.
Is there any backpack or messenger bag out there that will carry these two large cameras, lenses, flash and extras while city hiking or exploring the outdoors.

Make sure you have room for the the batteries. The Ford 150 may not hold the weight of them. Seriously I think you need a case with wheels, carrying all that on your back will put you in a wheelchair sooner than you think. You can always put a stick over your back shoulders and balance a bag on each side.

thanks for the insight. What I want is to be able to take both cameras and all lenses on a plane or in a car and then decide what I need on a given day. The lap top will stay where ever I lodge. Most of the time I shoot scenery and cityscapes. Occasionally the long zoom lens would be handy; it is not purchased an so far is not an issue. So far it seems that it will be nearly a year before flying to Europe is a possibility.

I use the large Ruggard back pack it fits it all with room to spare

Based on your question, you do not have enough experience with your equipment when out shooting in the city or elsewhere - no disrespect intended. I've done it all and usually take one camera, two lenses (500mm prime and either 16-35,, or 24-70mm), no flash, no laptop, no iPad, minimal cleaning equipment (blower, wipes & lens pen). Don't put your equipment and yourself at risk!

He wasn’t asking about a bag to take out shooting. He was asking about a bag to take all his gear when he travels.

I bought a rolling used Pelican case and have never regretted it! Use it for flying with alot of gear, and I love it! They are pricy new or used but well worth the money. I've been using the one I have for almost 10 years. As long as I'm still able to get it up into the overhead compartment I'm good! I stuff my empty camera backpack in my bigger suitcase , and pack my things in and around it. Tripod also goes into the suitcase. Made my life so much easier. ( I'm not young, and I weigh 125 pounds, so I'm not all that strong either. ) That and my camera vest in the luggage too, and I'm ready for almost anything.

Glad you have a strong back and are healthy. I work out of my trunk or back seats, camera bags and cameras. I can barely walk these days.

Without question, the Retrospective 30 is a messenger bag you should consider. I had the exact same issue with a D500, D4s and D850 with a multitude of lenses. I purchased the Retrospective 30 and would highly recommend that bag. Great looking, extremely well constructed and large enough to carry two full sized DSLRs with an assortment of lenses.

My concern is trying to get on a plane and flying to Europe. Your bag with all this gear will be too big and maybe too heavy probably be sent into the hold and to me that is a NO NO. I carry a Nikon D 5 with 24-70 AFS F2.8 attached and a 70-200 AFS F 2.8, 4 lee filters, a filter holder and a circular polariser. That all fits into a Lowe Pro flipside 400 aw2 and my other bag is a F stop Guru with pro ICU and fits. Make sure you know the size of hand baggage for your flight - I have had 2 instances when flying to USA from UK when at check in they weighed the bag and overweight so had to place 2 lenses into my pocket! Another journey flying premium economy upstairs on a Jumbo the locker next to us was too small for my camera bag - they would not let me keep the bag, emptied the camera and 2 lenses, the bag went to a cupboard near the flight attendants and the camera and lenses were wrapped in the blanket provided and placed in the locker.
Think very carefully about your bag its size and weight if flying, travelling by car anything goes if you can carry it, though my camera insurance does not cover loss from a boot! so have to carry everything. I once brought a 300mm F2.8 afs to Animal Kingdom (Florida) and my wife carried the lens in a rucksack as her carry on.

Only take one camera, the 18-300, and the 200-500! Covers it all!

To keep my equipment safe and organized, I use a roll-on airplane carry-on suitcase that I had on hand and ordered a SKB Think Tank Designed Divider Set for iSeries 1813-7 Case from Adorama for $65. The divider set is adjustable and fits the suitcase perfectly! However, not all carry-on suitcases are the same size, so you need to measure the suitcase to make sure the divider set will fit.

I've been thinking similar..... I was thinking of using a rolling suitcase and put foam in it with cutouts to got my gear.

I rather use the soft cloth wrappers that B&H sells and wrap each item individually, that way i can randomly put them in a carry-on on suitcase and get more room for gear instead of dividers. I color code the various items to ID them faster. I find this method more efficient and cost effective.
