Ι suggest using an old baby carriage! Except for steep mountains they can go anywhere. I use one for twins and carry a heavy tripod, two cameras, and several lenses. Try it, you will like it!

Here is my baby buggy that I carry a 600mmF:4 G VR and a 200-500mm F:5.6, tripod, small cooler and shade instrument. Only thirty bucks for the buggy. Best money spent.

I bought a lowepro protactic bp 450 thinking it would hold a d500 with 18-300, a d850 with 24-70, a 70-200, a sb800, a mac ProBook, ipad air in a case, filters, chargers cleaning equipment.
I was disappointed. The case is too short too hold the flash and the f2.8 lenses in a vertical orientation. There is no way I could add a Nikon 14-28 or 200-500 in the mix
The ProBook will not fit in the plastic slot.
Is there any backpack or messenger bag out there that will carry these two large cameras, lenses, flash and extras while city hiking or exploring the outdoors.

Check out Atlas packs. Alan is the owner, a photographer and a nice guy that listens to his customers. It you really want to carry all that I bet he can supply what you need.

I have a camera back pack I purchased when buying the camera , 4, lens , flash & tripod. The stuff just makes it in. It more or less was for storage & from the house to the vehicle transportation. Every once in a while I hike with the whole set-up when doing coastal or mountains where there might be a chance for wildlife, macro or a wide angle seen. But usually not. With that said I think camera bags like this are a compromise at best. There might be some camera bags large enough for if you watch some of these landscape photography vids on you tube. My next set-up for this would be an Osprey backpack with an ICU in it. Might not be ideal for the city but then, I wouldn't carry everything I own for a city walk. I'd use the bag I own or a sling/messenger type bag for my camera equipment in the city.

Try the bigger bags from Atlas or F-stop or, Shimoda. They might be what your looking for. I wouldn't purchase unless you can try it on with everything you intend to carry with you. Good luck, Tom

Domke made many types of camera bags. You can still get vintage one's aplenty on Ebay. The J-1 offered a big size, your 70-200 would lay horizontal and you would still have room for everything else. These old Domke bags are indestructible.

You might include the shimoda bags in your list of possible solutions. They come in various sizes and each can be configured for different amounts of gear. Another option might be a rolling hard bag case for all the gear to be left in your vehicle and a smaller bag for the few items to be carried. I've come to the same conclusion as many here and only carry on foot what's needed for the job at hand.

thanks for the insight. What I want is to be able to take both cameras and all lenses on a plane or in a car and then decide what I need on a given day. The lap top will stay where ever I lodge. Most of the time I shoot scenery and cityscapes. Occasionally the long zoom lens would be handy; it is not purchased an so far is not an issue. So far it seems that it will be nearly a year before flying to Europe is a possibility.

I have a travel bag and a shooting bag. When I travel they’re both full, but when I go out to shoot I determine what I’ll need that day and swap things around. As for the 200-500, it be has its own bag.

ROTFLMFAO !

I picture you ! (I’m obviously better at that than you are) Funnier than Loony Toons, Star Wars and Monty Python all combined. You’re not just making this stuff up ?? Well, even if you are, thank you soooo much :-)

Based on your question, you do not have enough experience with your equipment when out shooting in the city or elsewhere - no disrespect intended. I've done it all and usually take one camera, two lenses (500mm prime and either 16-35,, or 24-70mm), no flash, no laptop, no iPad, minimal cleaning equipment (blower, wipes & lens pen). Don't put your equipment and yourself at risk!

A loaded J-1 would put most of our older shoulders and backs out of joint, Bill. I like the used jogging stroller idea (the jogging types have larger wheels) and might give that a try. Because the strollers now required to have a 'safety expiration date', you could probably find an expired one pretty cheaply.
