Hello,
I was given this lens but it does not fit my D5500 or D70.
Is there an adapter for this?
Thank you.
If you are thinking of selling - let me know BTW my nikon is D5600.

Are you interested in the lens? If so, make an offer.

~ That lens should mount and be usable (no adapter needed) on a Nikon D5500 - of course, there is no auto-focus or auto exposure. You will have to use M mode and use your live view to get the correct exposure by trial and error. I use a 55mm F 2.8 Micro on my Nikon D5200 quite successfully! Just takes a bit of time and patience.

Thank you yorkiebyte,
Yes it does mount but the camera don't recognize it.
Check your manual to see if you can set up a manual focus lens. I can do it on my D 500, D810 and D850. I use a 55mm f2.8 Ais lens all the time on these bodies. I set the max aperture of f2.8 and the camera reads this. I set the aperture manually by turning the aperture ring. The new aperture is recognized by the cmera.
Both 55mm lenses are excellent manual focus lenses. My 55mm f2.8 might be the sharpest lens I own.
See if this helps:

Yorkiebyte is correct. This is a Pre-AI (auto indexing) lens made before 1973. It can be ai modified but not adapted. Mount it carefully as lenses from this era can harm recent bodies if they don't mount gracefully. In those days auto meant you didn't have to manually close the aperture before making your exposure.
It came with a dedicated extension tube (the M or M2 tube) which has the same mounting difficulties. You should be ok with the PK series rings if you need extension.
I have saved my father's copy of this lens but more for nostalgia than usage.

No recognition, correct. That lens has no electronics and the D5xxx bodies have no AIS feeler around where the lens mounts.
.... So, you will be totally manual in use, which is why you will have to put the camera itself in "M" manual mode and change the shutter speed yourself as well as the aperture on the lens - 3.5, 4, 5.6, etc.
~ If closeup or macro style photos don't interest you, then, as mentioned above, just sell. It is kind of a pain in the butt to use such a lens if you don't have an interest in the outcome.

Yep! Love my 55 2.8 micro. Really wish it was the 105 or even the 200 though because of subject closeness. But still, it has a certain look to the images that just can't be denied!!

This is a non-AI lens and is not compatible with any of the Nikon DSLR cameras. If forced, this can cause some serious damage to the camera. Hope this helps.

I have had the same lens for years. It requires the AI (auto-aperture indexing) modification to work on certain later Nikon models. Mine is unmodified, and works on my Nikon FTn film camera, but is awkward to use (or doesn't fit at all) on later models.
It's a really good macro lens, given its vintage! My son adapted it to his Lumix GH4, where it doubles as a 110mm equivalent portrait lens and macro lens.

Hmmm.... my non AI 28mm F 2.5 prime Vivitar lens works
swell on my Nikon D5200 - however, it will damage the AI/AIS sensor tab on my Nikon D7100 - so no go on that!
