How much did they take for doing it?

Great service. Wish I lived that close.

Is that a free service under warranty?

Not covered under warranty, but sometimes you can catch them on a good day.

Wow, $61 to clean a sensor! I bet it took them all of about 5 minutes. I do it myself as it's not all that difficult to do. It's even more expensive if one has to ship and insure the camera to Mellville!

Yes I agree, on my $250.00 D7000 I would also do it myself, on my $2000.00 D850 I only let Nikon do it. But that's me and I am lucky enough to live close. Back and forth shipping is at least $35.00 more and the wait could be unbearable.

I agree! I've been to Nikon's facility when I used to live in Suffolk County. Now I've cleaned the sensors on my D300, D7000, and D500 myself with no problems, but I have only had dust. If I had oil spots that some Nikons have had a problem with it would be a different story.

Last night at about 9:30 I sat down with my Z7 that had a spot on the sensor that wouldn’t blow off. I spritzed a sensor swab with cleaning fluid, waited a few seconds and drew it across the sensor and back. I checked with a loupe and the speck was gone. I put the lens back on the camera and at about 9:33 I was done. 😜🤪

...Nikon Los Angeles is shut down. They referred me to Melville. Seems kinda strange...I mean, Los Angeles?

With NPS, my experience has been that sometimes I can drop it off in the AM and pick it up later the same day. But that was before they stopped supporting their authorized repair network. In the time since, I have moved away from the NYC Metro area, so dropping it off is no longer an option. I received confirmation that my camera had been received on Tuesday to repair impact damage from a short drop, which I authorized within an hour of receiving the email, and late yesterday afternoon I received another email stating it was "in the mail" back to me. They are definitely on the ball. . .
