Is there a book or site that you might recommend that would include techniques as well as gear?

I shoot birds but not much success in this arena.

Thanks

There is a True Macro section on UHH that can help:

Shooting dragonflies in flight is tough - it helps to understand their behavior. A DF will frequently perch, fly away, and return to the same spot repeatedly. It helps to have a camera with a high burst speed, because focusing is tough and DOF is very limited. Sometimes "spray and pray" is the best strategy.
