Perhaps you can define 'critically'.

Yes. If you view your images 'critically', you can notice the difference between lenses on a D800E or D850. And, if you mount the same lens on both cameras for pictures of the same subject, you can see the superior performance of the D850 in side-by-side image comparison. I compared my prior and current lenses to help make my choices.
Without question!!! By far, the best camera I've ever owned. The resolution is over-the-top, and I continue to be blown away by the images themselves.
THE SHORT ANSWER IS YES. I shoot product shots, travel and portrait. The full frame and the detail with the high pixel count make the photos better then DX Nikons. The video quality is great as well. Buy good lenses to enhance the picture quality.
I had been using a D700 and D3x for years. I was planning to upgrade to a D5 until Merry got a D850. The quality of her photos was better than those from my D3x. I've had the D850 for a few months but haven't used it enough to know for sure, but I can see an improvement over my previous photos so far.

Started out with a Nikon D100 then D2x to the D3 to the D4 to the D5 to the D850 and now the D6. Every one has been an improvement over the last model except the D6 over the D850. I shoot the D850 with the 24 - 70 and the D6 with a 70 - 200. ( I have many other Nikor lens but this is the combination I travel with.) The reason for this is that I can crop and still have a very sharp picture with the D850 if the D850 is the camera I am holding. With the D6 I most likely shooting action an I am at a distance so it is a win win for me with this combination. If I had to choose between the D6 and the D850 I would go with the D850. Shooting football the D850 comes in second to the D6, at 14 frames per second you get some fantastic shoots. When there is no need for speed the D850 is fantastic.
I think he means that the D850 is the best of all the 12 Nikon cameras he owns.
I would like to thank all for their response, I now have the D850 in hand. The menu system has changed some but being familiar with Nikon have run into no problems setting it up. Still plenty to learn and hopefully of sharing some photos from the 850 soon. Thanks again

Hope this is as a straight foward question as I would like it to be. For owners of the D 850 after using the D 850 would you buy again after your experience with it?

I have a related question for all you uhh folks......how do you feel the new z7 II compares with the D850? Will be buying one or the other soon. Currently shooting a D750, a z5, and a z50
Don't know and have no interest in the Z line.

Treated myself to a D850 the Christmas after it was announced. I still have my D7100, now as mostly back up. My challenge when I got my D850, I had no FX lenses; it took a while to get the cash for a 24-70 and 70-200, both Nikkor f/2.8s. In the meantime I used older Nikkor manual focus primes and totally enjoyed the learning curve and more. I have my D850 set up for stills with the SD card slot and video with the XQD card. Only thing I would like to see is video focus improved on the D850. I had a Z 6II ordered from B&H; I just sent it back, never turned it on. The deal breakers for the Z 6II....after having it in my hands I want nothing to do with that adapter, and I just do not want to throw the cash at those Z mount lenses regardless of how stellar the reviews are on them....they are too pricey for me.
Would you guy a Nikon D850 again?
YES, with out question.
I have had my D850 for two years now. Fantastic DSLR. Right now I am trying to figure out how to buy a second body at the new lower price, it’s about having the $, no other hesitation.
