At that price I’ll take one for each car and one to carry with me at all times, and one for backup in case one of the others breaks or malfunctions.

So Leica replaced the Q1 finally with 47MP!

Over $5K for B&W only. I actually understood the point of the Q1 sort of, no Bayer Array, pure 1:1 pixel resolution. But do I need that much? And in B&W only. IF and that is a huge IF, I had the cash to spend I would want a Digital Medium Format camera, Like a Hasselblad, Pentax, or Fujifilm beast. And wow, do I now suffer doing B&W conversions from color digital, no, I find the variable possibilities enjoyable.

Someone on the "hog" posted an image from one of these cameras. I don't remember who, but I was aghast at the cost. You would have to view the files on a 60" display to appreciate them - clearly a niche market, but someone in the commercial field could certainly make some incredible images and gradually pay it off... For now I will stick to my two 24Mpx cams - think of the size of storage you would have to have.

I think I'll stick with my color capable cameras.
Record the image in color...go into LR ... convert to B&W ... and then have push and pull ability on all the colors recorded in the file. So many ways to pull a B&W image that way.

With all due respect, I have never been a Leica fan. I do not deny the quality of their lenses and cameras but been a symbol like it is their prices are outrageous. I have always thought that I can do with any of my cameras what can be done with a Leica....at a fraction of the price.

Great optics, built like a tank. But for that price?
I shot professionally in the 70’s-90’s.
In that span of time I never knew any other professional with a Leica.
Niche market.
But hey, if you have a really good income, why not? But personally if I had that kind of money to part with I’d go medium format.
