All were captured with a 100mm Macro with M-14 Canon ring light at about 1/4th to 1/2 power and varying ISO, aperature and shutter speeds. Typically the ISO was set at somewhere between 200- and 600 and the aperature between
F 8 and F 22 and the shutter speed ( which didn't matter too much when using the ring light as long as it was below the sync. speed which is 1/250th.
2 is my favorite. He has some crazy eye's. You can see the depth of field clear as day.
Looks like a successful hunt to me! How many "trophies" were attached to the front of your vehicle?
;-) ;-)
Nice captures, Stevieboy!
Thanks for looking guys. I just posted these five minutes ago. I live in a golf community and we have a Butterfly Park which is close by. I take the golf cart.
I rally like the "feel" of the yellow-winged dragon (image #2).
Thanks Douglass. I think that one was captured with strong backlit sun. May have used the flash to fill in and played around in RAW and then a little cropping. Glad you liked.
Yes, like the yellow one also. Nice backgrounds

I'll add a "me too"
Love the backlit illumination of the hair on the legs and the translucent quality of the wings
Great shots!
I also like the Yellow Winged Dragon fly the best
i like #2 a lot.if it was photo stacked and the wings were in focus too it would really be a great shot.tom
It sure would Tom. Any way to do that?

you use a tripod, take a shot of the body and another shot of the wings then use software and combine them.some software is free such as combinezp. tom
