Looks like an interesting building with some aging texture on it. I think it would work well to be closer.

I like the distance. The road leads the eye to the centered subject nicely. Incidentally, I wonder if it actually has a congregation, given that the road is well established and the tire tracks are not overgrown.

Thank you for your comment and suggestion, captivecookie. I never really thought much about a crop, and only started thinking about it after your post. You are absolutely correct, it looks better when some of the foreground is cropped to bring the church closer.
It could probably do with even a bit more of a crop than the slight one I have given it here.

Nice shot. I would crop out some of the foreground and left side, leaving the two-track part of the road in and keeping the beautiful sky. This would also enlarge the church and move it off center a bit.

Edit: I see you did some of this while I was typing.

Thank you, Phil. I'm glad you like it and I appreciate your comment. I think that old church has been closed for some time. What makes me think that is the cross leaning against the church, and the writing on the sign is missing. It does seem as though the grounds are kept up, however.

Thank you, timcc, for your comment and suggestion. I did a slight crop from the foreground. Probably could do with a bit more, but I do want most of the surroundings left in the picture.

Cool photo. I don't believe it needs any cropping; just look at it in download and you can see it just fine.
As for a congregation, I would have to guess, probably not judging from the plant growth; plus the building doesn't look all that structrually sound.
How are your puppies doing? Both of mine are sitting in my big comply chair with me. The boy dog, Teddy Bear, is licking my knee, as usual. His sister is doing what she does best, napping.

Hi, rmorrison. I also like it without the crop, and that is why I only started with a slight one when suggested. I don't think I would take the crop in any further than I did. When I was at the church, it did not seem that the doors had been open for church services for quite some time, so I agree with you about the lack of a congregation.
Now for my puppies, who will be 10 years old in January. They are doing well, and I am surprized how playful they still are. They just zonk out a little earlier in the evening. One of them glues himself to the TV (the one out front in my avatar) when there is a football game on. Like a foot away from the 58 inch screen, watching every play. Never seen anything like it. Glad your puppies are doing well.
