Returning an Empty Box to Amazon

This is a weird one. I received an order from Amazon yesterday. There were five items in the box, although I had ordered six. The packing slip for the missing item was there, but not the item. There is no provision for that on the Amazon site, so I had to do a return - reason: "Broken or missing parts." I printed a label, and I'll return the empty box later today. It's only a $7 item, but I hope this works out okay. Of the six items I ordered, the missing one was the most important.

Murphy’s Law. I find Amazon to be very reasonable. I received a completely empty box with a packing slip. They fulfilled the order a second time.

Here in the Shenandoah Valley, Amazon delivery has continued to be very quick - 1-2 days with few exceptions. It means filling up the Mini with empty boxes every couple of weeks and heading to the landfill since we don’t have pickup for recyclables.

We have cardboard recycling here, and I have a wood stove.

Other kinds of recycling are so restrictive that it's hardly worth the effort. It's almost impossible for plastic to qualify for recycling.

In this pandemic, it’s especially important to support local businesses.

I’m even buying gift cards to use later. I’m running the risk of the local True Value and Ace and NAPA not being there later, but I see it as an investment in the community. I know a need for something from them occurs regularly. I do have to fight the urge to use places like Amazon, though, because it is so darned convenient to have each Christmas gift delivered by them. I’m previously conditioned. However, I’m using the pandemic as an opportunity to send card and gift in one package this year.

I am in complete agreement with supporting local business. I make every effort to do so. However, I cannot count how many times I have spent an hour or two driving around looking for an item that the local businesses do not have. I then slap my forehead, return home and order it on line and usually have it in a day or two.

Driving, finding a parking space, walking to the store, waiting for someone to wait on you and tell you he doesn't know what you're talking about...

I find that most of my local merchants know exactly what I'm talking about. And by using them, I get free same day delivery.

And even worse, exposing yourself to Covid. I also believe in supporting local business, but they need to have what I need, when I need it and operate their business safely for their customers and employees. If I go out to a local business and they are not wearing masks and taking the recommended precautions, I turn around and leave.

Well.. good for you. Aren’t you proud of yourself. ? That makes perfect sense.I’m staunch at standing up, so I will find alternate sources for spending my money, and I love to spend money, but no longer will MINE GO TO TREASONOUS CORPORATIONS...RJM. What/why should I have gone to Vietnam if not of patriotic intent. And though Vietnam was a tragic mistake(stupid, really) I am a patriot, just can’t stand POLITICIANS..Nor the deranged MEDIA.............RJM

Most companies donate to both, but different amounts.
