I am thinking about purchasing the new iPhone 12pro since I can no longer hold my camera but can use my iPcurrent I phone. The 12 pro can shoot raw. Any comments will be appreciated

Stay well and safe creating images with your IPhone 12. Look forward to seeing them.

We just ordered the IPhone 12 Max to replace our very old model 6. I need a larger screen and the camera is a bit better. Delivery is some time before Dec 6.
There’s also a forum that was recently started where you might ask some of the phone techies that and many other questions.
That forum is here:

I was on a recent photo trip to the blue ridge parkway. 90% of the people I saw were taking photos with their phones.. One such fellow shared some of his images. They were taken in HDR mode. The photos were fantastic... It would take me about 20 minutes of post processing to get the same result or I would have to use a tripod, set my camera up and take a 3 to 5 shoots bracketed and then blend them, again taking time on the computer at Home... You can bet I'll have one when I can't hold my camera any longer......

Look for reviews of the phone/camera combination and see if anything good or bad jumps out at you. I think Apple has a plan so you can easily update when a new phone comes out.

I wonder if Apple will call their next phone #13. I think that would keep some people away.

Isn't the old adage, "The best camera is the one you have with you"?

I added the Pro Camera app to my iPhone 10 XR. It can shoot RAW. Modest price for such a versatile app.

Would this app work with the base model 12?

I believe the iPhone 12 series has RAW capability built in so you wouldn’t need an app to shoot RAW.

You should also look at the (lower price) Samsung A71 - It has a 64MPix sensor, comes with LR for Samsung and shoots raw files that you can download to your favourite raw processor...

I only saw RAW mentioned for the “Pro” versions. The standard 12 does not show it.

You may be right. I know the Pro and Pro Max have RAW, and assumed the base 12 does, too. If it were me, and I could afford it, I would bite the bullet and get the 12 Pro Max for the longer lens in it. It sort of gives it the ability of a 24-70 lens in a regular camera, so you have some telephoto ability that isn’t purely digital zoom. Right now I’ll hang on to my iPhone 11.
