It is time to provide Christmas ideas to the family!
While beginning a search in eBay for Cokin Z filter holder and ring system to use ND filters, I came across the Zomei ( chinese product).
Has any UHH used this product and do the Cokin 100 x 100 or 150 mm can be used with the Zomei ring and holder?
They also offer a set with filters included.

Thank in advance!

I am looking into exactly the same thing! I hope to hear from anyone. I couldn't find anything on line about Zomei as of yet

No experience with those...but.
Especially with ND filters...go first class or go home...if you want serious results.
Unless you buy first class...there will be color alterations...and the dreaded X with variables.

I have 3 of these system and rings. (3 cameras 3 systems) Now I shoot in raw and use a Color Checker Passport which eliminates any adverse color shading. I also have other brand name filters as well as the Zomei. The Zomei is working just fine BUT I can't find a lens hood with any of the available manufacturers out there. But to hold the 100x100 or 100x150 filters it works great.

I also ordered mine from China and had to wait anywhere from3 to 6 weeks which is just fine considering the low low price.

Thank you for your response.
What I want is just to have the rings and holder to be able to use Cokin Filters. As you said they are more reasonable in price. As of now I could get them in December.
I would be interested in learning about the Color Checker Passport. Is software you have to process the photos afterwards?

Yes, they will hold the Cokin filters. The Color Checker Passport made by X-Rite is basically a color coded card that you photograph at the beginning of your shoot or when you change locations. This one photo can then be calibrated so all colors in the following shots are the correct color shade. They run around $100 at X-Rite, B&H, Adorama etc.

I will check into it. Thank you.

Years ago, I bought a Cokin filter holder and several filters. I took them into the field and used them a few times. I found the who process kind of fiddley, as the Brits say, and I seldom use them. In addition, other than ND and polarizing, I find that all the other filters can be replicated in post.

ND IS the issue though

Still fiddley and time-consuming to set up - a screw-on filter is faster.

I figured a Cokin style would be easier when taking meter readings beforehand

I think so to. Just slide the filter up and down. It has to be faster. If there is a little play is Ok as long as it does not fall
The camera will be on a tripod
