That's a shame, but Shop Vac was always my second choice. I found Craftsmen shop vacs to be much better.

Near the end of Sears reign I would not be surprised if they were made in China just like nearly everything else.

That was the first one that I bought over 30 years ago and is used almost every day in my woodshop.

Absolutely no problems with it since new.

How many people think you're talking about Shop Vac and how many are thinking Craftsman?

Jerry if your Craftsman fails you can get a prescription for the more modern method... the Blue-Pill!

The article did say that Shop Vac made machines for Sears, so they might have been the same. I too have large Red Craftsman unit still going after about 30 years. I also own three Shop Vac's for smaller uses. The only problem I've had was the cord is turning to sticky mush. I once burned up a Eureka vac that used those sausage type bags. The Eureka twisted itself into pieces, so you'll have to take my Shop Vac from my cold dead hands!

In the hay day of Sears their shop vacs and many power hand power tools were made by Edison Electric here in the states. As sears business declined they pulled the plug on Edison and sourced from Asia. Since 90% of Edison’s business was with Sears they were in dire straights. Enter Home Depot who bought Edison and renamed the tools Husky. If you look at a Husky large vac you will see similarities to Craftsman vacs of old. I still have and use a Craftsman vac. Edison’s mistake was having too many eggs (sales) in one basket.
I was not talking about Shop Vac Brand. Sears may have sold Shop Vac brand after they dumped Edison.

I was quoting Jerry and we were talking about craftsman.

But I can see where you might think we were talking shop vac. Sorry about that.
