Warhorse, I would have thought that you would be aware that CPO is a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy.
My affiliation to the Marines was an assignment to a Marine amphibious task force for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm beginning in August 1990 until September 1991. My best friend (gained from that tour) is a retired Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant and his birthday is today, 10 November, the same as the birthday of the USMC.

I was "adopted" and treated well. In fact, the C.O. hooked me up with a date with his personal secretary (a female) for the command's Marine Corps Birthday Ball celebration. It really blows my mind how that event 30 years ago seems like yesterday and paying off a 30 year mortgage seems as if it was an eternity.
