Congratulations. You have successfully managed to d**g the oldest, w****st, most baggage-laden, most-entrenched DC insider and one percenter on the planet to the door of the Oval Office.

We know you’re feeling depressed that you didn’t get your much-vaunted and predicted “blue wave,” but you can celebrate the fact that the political carcass you animated and propped up will likely fall across the threshold.

Anyone but Trump, right?

For the past four years most of you have worked tirelessly and openly to discredit and destroy his presidency, not because he is bad but because the vast majority of you are liberal and want this nation’s leftward march back.

You used every possible weapon to stop Trump, wh**ever the cost.

Race was your favorite, as it has been for generations. Within minutes of the 2016 results you claimed - with zero evidence - that Trump v**ers were r****ts.

You rushed to judgment on every police shooting, spreading inaccurate and and incomplete facts, sparking devastating and deadly r**ts you called “peaceful protests.”

Your vilifying of police has led to cutbacks and less patrolling that has increased the number of murders of the very people you claim to champion.

Oh well, right?

You weaponized the C***d v***s, claiming Trump caused tens of thousands of deaths. You made people believe shutdowns, masking and distancing would keep them safe when all it did was spread infections over time while crushing the record-breaking economy. Trillions of dollars lost, countless jobs and businesses destroyed to delay the inevitable.

Oh well, right?

You told us churches and Trump rallies were “superspreaders” while protests (and r**ts)

were safe and essential.

You spent three-plus years “investigating” Trump colluding with the Russians, with reporting that was so horribly unprofessional and imbalanced you should’ve been jailed for it.

You spent four years depicting every word from Trump as a lie when you, too, have been liars-in-chief.

You lied when you placed the blame solely on the white nationalists for the disaster in Charlottesville.

You lied when you depicted Brent Kavanaugh as a serial sex offender in a blatant attempt to stop his Supreme Court confirmation.

You lied when you said it was the MAGA hat-wearing high schooler who caused that nationally broadcast scrap with a Native American when he was the victim.

You lied when you said there was nothing to see about Biden’s son’s lucrative job in Ukraine, while insisting Trump be impeached for asking about it.

You cheered against Trump (and us) when Trump successfully fought to get NATO allies to pay more of their share.

You sided with Canada, Mexico and China when Trump fought successfully to get better trade deals, shouting he couldn’t win and would wreck the economy trying.

You screamed that Trump recognizing Jerusalem would cause mass turmoil. Instead, crickets.

And oh, you cried, what a fool Trump was for reaching out to North Korea! We know you’d rather have missiles blasting off there than for him to have that success.

Yes, you wanted Trump gone at all costs. We all saw it, felt it, heard it.

Among the victims of your deliberate folly:

Your credibility. It was in the toilet before Trump.

You have since flushed yourself.

You have squandered all the honor of the sacred and Contitutionally-protected mission bestowed by our founders upon an independent and free press.

Unelected, you have used your power to help one side and thwart the other. Our founders never anticipated you jumping on one side of the left-right teeter-totter that has been with us throughout history.

Half of this country h**es you for it. The other half may be grateful for it, but many of them also know what you’ve done to your institution.

Most of you, big media, no longer have anyone to answer to. You have fired your ombudsmen (reader representatives and fairness sentinels). Some of you no longer even routinely print timely corrections.

Your so-called fact-check organizations like Snopes and PolitiFact are populated with the same types as your newsrooms, with the same biases. They spend nearly all their time fact-checking social media while whistling at or supporting big media outrages.

We know you, big media, won’t try to delegitimize a Biden win. You won’t label, libel and slander his supporters. You won’t shout for impeachment at every turn. You won’t lead and assist investigations.

We know you will provide back-up and cover at every turn - as you did for eight years with Obama.

I believe all Americans should continue to support their local media, which for the most part continues the mission because they have to live amongst those they cover.

But you, national media, must face a reckoning.

I believe it is time for a fantastically funded, national non-profit with army of inspired lawyers and researchers that will file libel, slander and malpractice lawsuits against news organizations for imbalanced, inaccurate and destructive reporting like we’ve seen routinely during the past several years.

For example, the owners, reporters and editors at the Washington Post and New York Times should be considering financial ruin instead of Pulitzers for their agenda-based reporting, use of inaccurate Information, illegally leaked source material from political operatives and for not correcting their inaccuracies on Russia collusion.

We saw this at work recently with the historic lawsuits won by the Covington High School student smeared for his MAGA hat.

In generations past, judges and juries gave tremendous leniency to news organizations. It was extremely difficult to win a libel or slander suit because jurists still believed in the overall integrity and importance of the free press.

Those days are over. Big media is not only distrusted by a significant majority, they are despised.

Big media, you have done this to yourselves. You are owned by a small number of people who - unelected - have tremendous control and power.

No longer are you the watchdogs of freedom. The vast majority of you are liberal and willing lapdogs for the left, with a tiny minority being conservative and lapdogs for the right, which is just as wrong.

We will not tolerate you any more. We will turn you off, cancel our print and web subscriptions. We will prosecute you for malpractice because what you do harms, k**ls and ruins people.

Without reliable news and information we are lost as a nation. In fact, we are currently lost and dangerously divided, because of you.

In conclusion, as a longtime journalist I know many of you honestly love what you do. You believe in the precious and crucial mission given to us by our founders.

You have honor and integrity and are just as horrified at what the profession has become.

May I suggest you no longer be silent, as I was for a good bit of my 32 years as a reporter and columnist.

Rise up and be counted among those crying out for the news to get back in the center lane, to return to honor and diligence and duty.

You do not want to be hiding in the shadows when the reckoning comes.

And it is on the way.
