Eagle Alaska.
Coming from Dawson City over the Top of the World Highway you get to Chicken Alaska Pop. 16, there you meet the Taylor Highway which goes north and south, north to Eagle, south the Alcan. I traveled north to see Eagle on a rough gravel road for 90 miles and the weather wasn't nice, but Eagle was fun. The road is only open in the summer for the 130 inhabitants, Fairbanks is 373 miles away. Here are some pictures of Eagle, done a long time ago, see the first building and the posting has "Dole, Kemp" Election campaign posted. Eagle was an Army Post from 1901 to 1911.
Interesting series. Very nice
Your photos provide a peek into the past and a different way of life. As always, they are interesting and very well done!
A truly interesting and well done set.
Great series, Mike, I like the wagon and the Studebaker the best.
A great peek at history, Mike.
Many thanks for the memories, Mike. We loved driving the "Top Of The World Highway" and fueled up at Chicken. Took the old ferry across the Yukon River to Dawson River; had dinner and saw the last Melodrama play for the season at the Dawson Saloon. This was mid-September and it froze darn near everything in our RV that night! We were planning on going up to Eagle but they were working on the road and said we could be delayed for a day so instead we headed south for the Alcan Hwy. Good times!!
A very nostalgic set. Great work, Mike.

Thank you very very much Earnest. The wagon is from the old military, the Studebaker was a surprise, especially in such nice condition.
