Several asked for me to keep updating the resto of the ship. Well, yesterday I went down to do my first official photo shoot as the project's official photographer. As you can see there is a lot of work to be done and with no help whatsoever from the government it's going to take longer then it should. Considering the importance of to ship to our State, everyone is amazed that they have given no support.
The ship is of composite construction, metal frame and teak hull. The metal is wrought iron and doesn't suffer like steel as far as corrosion goes. Once the rust scale is removed, it's in remarkable condition.
If you read the first item it will give you a good insight into the ship's history and some of the reasons it's in such a bad state.

Great photos Ron. The ship certainly has had a varied life and it is great see that efforts are being made to preserve a piece of such interesting history. Let's hope that some assistance from the government will eventually be forthcoming.

Thanks TD, yes it would make a world of difference. They throw millions around for other less significant projects. A few million (pocket money to them) would make a massive difference..

I included some in the original post..here are a few more...the first three were taken 6 years ago at the ship's 150th birthday. The last one was taken a couple of weeks ago..you can't get much of a full view now because it's surrounded by scaffolding..

Wonderful tour!!! Thank you for the photo of her timeline. I am looking forward to watching her progress. Are there any plans to sail her once she is restored? I would love to see photos of her at sea with all her sails full of air.

Sorry Dodie, it's going to be an on-shore static display/museum in a similar way the Cutty Sark is displayed but obviously not as fancy as the Cutty Sark because we don't get any support from the government...maybe one day some rich person will donate a few million dollars..
The Cutty Sark is the sister ship to the City Of Adelaide. The COA was built in 1864 while the CS was built in 1869..

It's a shame but better than rotting at the bottom of the ocean.
