Thanks, I bought one. The last time I checked they were still full price.

I’m a member but I rarely buy 256GB of memory at Costco. Simply, I get scared if I misplace the flash drive. I generally buy smaller drives along the lines of 32GB. My memory cards for my camera is locked up in a small card wallet in the top dresser drawer. I don’t reformat them either.

When I’m buying something at B&H I’ll pickup two memory cards for good measure. Sometimes I’ll buy a few flash drives at MicroCenter.

I already had one of the 256GB, I have a bunch of 4, 8, 16, 32 & 64. I use the 256 to store an emergency backup and data of my wife's old desktop just in case I missed something or it got corrupted transferring to her new machine. The smaller ones have extra copies of various things including my downloads of magazines, install files for apps etc.

This one is going to be for storing a copy of the slides and negatives/photos I am scanning to digital-slowly-from myself and various family members we have several (approx. 8) of those document file boxes full. I brought several thousand slides and negatives home from Vietnam and only a few have been scanned. Then there was the summer long Anthropology & Field/Cultural Geography field school I spent in SW Mexico and I became the semi-official photographer because I had more camera gear than anyone else. Over the years copies that I gave the professors have been used in at least one book and some academic articles but I still have all the original negatives/slides - six 3 ring binders of negative sleeves and several 36 shot slide sets.

Obviously, you are far more professional than I’ll ever be. I’m just kind of a person who doesn’t mind 15 or 20 CF Flash cards. I had a bad experience when I formatted a card. That is why I won’t do it again.

Since you are way more professional I definitely appreciate you viewpoint.

The closest to being a professional photographer I get is a friend who is a part time Pro because he loves it and works a real job because his family like to have a place to live, clothes to wear and food to eat.

I was a professional "talker" according to my wife. "All you do is sit behind a desk and talk all day about history!"

The wife is a retired Surgical RN. No matter how many times I told her what I really did as a teacher she still didn't really believe me.
But just let me say something like well all you do is hand stuff to the surgeon. And, well, the "escape and evasion" course the Army put me through way back when came in handy.
