Does any one know if a battery grip is available for Nikon z50 ?
Are there any 3rd party batteries
The cost is very high for back up battery , any ideas ?

ATM shell out for one spare from Nikon and then wait patiently. As an early adopter you knew this going in. It does seem devious of Nikon to introduce a new battery pack rather than choose one of their existing packs, but that fact was not hidden. One or two full price spares is always part of the total cost for buying into a newly introduced power pack.

IOW, you haven’t quite fully paid for your Z50. You paid 90% down and there’s still the remainder to mop up. It’s a package. In a while Nikon will lower the price of the Z50 and 3rd party batteries will appear. That will be a new and different package, aimed at attracting later buyers. Happens every time.

If there is one, B&H would probably be selling it. I suggest you search for one there...

They have lowered the kit price $300+. Alas I bought mine a few months ago.

I am loving the kit. I am finding I grab it over my Z6 kit most of the time.

The battery life is looking very good. The usb charging is nice. I’ll wait till the non-branded batteries appear. Should be soon.

I'd rather spend the money on a spare battery. For me the most appealing aspect of the z50 is it's very compact size, especially with the 16-50 lens. That portability would be lost with an aftermarket grip.

I would bite the bullet now and get the OEM battery. You definitely should have a spare. This is new technology and a new camera. Best to wait until later to try non-nikon gear.
