That's a gorgeous tree as background. I particularly like that it's filling the frame. Val has pointed out the one area of concern, especially if relative critter size is an artistic statement
I like it a lot, especially as a a new subject/idea for further exploration.
The critter size is I believe correct. Odin is accompanied by two wolves, Geri and Freki (in this case Freki is off being freaky
) and two large Ravens, Huginn and Muninn who fly over all the earth and bring news news to Odin.
I have always been interested in mythology and the idea of gods, and goddesses with human strengths and weaknesses who are known to go among the people bringing goodness and mischief to the world.
The Norse Pantheon was especially attractive to this young boy in the 50's. The Norsemen were warriors, lusty men with beards and horned helmets who ate, drank, wenched and fought with equal gusto. Their greatest hope was to die valiantly and heroically and be carried off to Valhalla by the Valkyries until they, the greatest of human heroes, would be called at Ragnarok to fight and die at Odin's side.

Near or upon us?
As I said this not meant to be a political statement.
Near is a relative term in mythology. The next indicator will be three
World Wide Winters with no summers.

OK then, near it certainly is.
The picture works in general for me, but the big bird on the right jars my sense of size.

You and most others who commented. He is supposed to be big. He is one Odin's ravens.

Thanks Val I never seem to remember shadows but I will work on that. His legs are actually encased in knee high black leather boots but you are right I could change them to brown and it would improve the image.
That prob would look better as with the dog in front of him you can't see they are boots.. May be if you still have the composite in layers you could select the lower part of the man that is behind the dog and lighten it a bit so you can see some detail in the boots and then a shadow would show up. At the moment the boots look like black blobs but the rest of him is fine..
