Uh, the OP has a 2012 MBPro, i5, not an iMac. But you're right about the 2011 iMac. The 2012 27" i7 was a disappointment too. Had one that died of major complications that even Apple's Genii couldn't puzzle out.

Sorry you are right.. He has even less options.

I've been using a mid 2012 Macbook Pro for photo editing but it's too slow. I've been thinking, due to budget reasons, of an older iMac. Maybe a Apple iMac 21.5" i5 8GB 1TB (Late 2015) Mk442ll/a model for around $600. Looking for suggestions and input from the Hoggers!

I have mid 2011 21.5" quad core i5 iMac. I upgraded the hard drive to SSD. It currently has 8g memory. It can be upgraded to 32g (my next step). I run Affinity, PS Elements, and Luminar. I works very well. The SSD
made a huge improvement. I also use Apple Photo with Affinity and Luminar plugins. Very pleased. Don't laugh, I also still use Aperture. I know I can't upgrade from High Sierra, but I do not care.....my adage is
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I have the same model 2012 Macbook Pro. If budget is the issue, put in 16 GB memory & a SSD drive. It won't be so sluggish. But, the biggest grip I have is the display on that old beast. If you don't have a 'retina' display, you'll never see resolution the way it is! Good Luck!

I agree... If you don't have Retina, It's time to upgrade.
